Match
Report - Juniors
As
most teams were unfamiliar with the Coventry Canal, hosts
Coventry Canal Junior Angling Club made the most of their home
knowledge, and romped home to a 15-point victory over the
chasing pack. There was an amazing 4-way tie for 2nd place on
points, although after a back-calculation on weight, Barnsley's
squad took home the Runners-Up and 3rd place medals, leaving
Derby and Warrington to ponder just how close they had come.
In
the individual match, Barnton & Frodsham angler, Daniel
Ashbrook, triumphed from B-section, with 3lbs 11ozs 8drs
catch of roach and skimmers from opposite the reeds to bring
home a first individual trophy for the Cheshire-based club.
Daniel used squatts, pinkies and maggots down the track for the
most of his catch.
Intermediates
The
inters match turned into a battle between two teams, Peatmoor
and Warrington. Peatmoor dropped the least amount of points,
landing every angler in the top 2 in their sections, making them
champions with 2 points to spare. Evesham Youth White completed
the top 3, with 32 points.
Peatmoor's
Gareth Jackson put the best weight on the scales, with 3lbs 9ozs
8drs off the end peg A1.
